Fatima and Hind Akachmar have just completed a 3 week trip to the United States where they exhibited and sold Adwal products and participated in workshops to bring new skills back to the Cooperative women.
Adwal was accepted (and received scholarship funding) to exhibit at the prestigious Santa Fe International Folk Art Market July 13-15, 2012. Their products were received successfully and they attended several business workshops. Adwal thanks the Market, their sponsors and the volunteers who made this experience so meaningful.
Fatima and Hind then made their way to the Los Angeles area to attend the Handweavers’ Guild of America biennial Convergence Conference. There they participated in workshops on natural dye with cochineal and indigo. They look forward to bringing these new skills (and natural colors) back to the Adwal women to incorporate into future products. Adwal would also like to thank the Mearle Gable Grant committee for their support that made their attendance possible.
